Who is the Capital Area PWC Club?

The Capital Area PWC Club is a local chapter of the American Watercraft Association. The American Watercraft Association is a national membership based association that fights for the rights of PWC owners across the country. The AWA is nearly 10,000 riders strong. The Capital Area PWC club is made up of members of the AWA that live in the Washington DC metropolitan area.

The club was just started in the summer of 2005 and has been growing like a weed since, literally doubling in size each time an event has been held. As of September, 2006 the club is 59 members strong with calls from people interested in joining coming in throughout the summer.

The age, backgrounds and interests of our members are all over the board, but the synergy is awesome, and everyone is always up for a good ride. The ages truly range from 25 to 88, and believe it or not, it's the older folks that lead the pack in speed. We have members come to ride from as far north as Germantown, MD, as far east as Kent Island, MD, as far south as Richmond, VA, and as far west as Leesburg, VA. They all travel the distances they do to ride with the club, because it is always worth the trouble.

This past summer we had 3 rides, one at Leesylvania Park, VA, one at Sandy Point Park, MD during the MD Seafood festival, and one at Lake Anna, VA at the tail end of the season. Future events will cover the full gamut of riding styles that make up the club. In the upcoming season we plan to host the DC Freedom Ride again, some race oriented events, an open water event or two, an event geared towards wake boarding & water skiing, and lots of exploration trips to new waters. If you are interested in registering for the club, all you have to do is print the registration form and mail it back to Tim Brown with a minimum $10 seasonal contribution to the club. Checks should be made out to Tim Brown so they can be cashed for the club. All contributions are reinvested back into the club to buy toys everyone can enjoy and food and drinks for hot summer days on the water.
